Our Selected Heirloom Tomato Seeds
BIG RAINBOW
A stunning bi-colour heirloom with golden skin and red marbling. Produces large, meaty fruits often exceeding 500 g, with a fragrant, fruity sweetness and low acidity. This indeterminate variety needs staking and performs best with consistent watering. Ideal for fresh eating, platters, salsa, bruschetta, and light cooking.
BURNLEY SURE CROP
An Australian favourite developed at Burnley Horticultural College in the 1940s. Semi-determinate plants produce medium-sized (150–200 g) smooth, bright-red fruits with a balanced, mildly sweet flavour. A reliable, high-yielding variety ideal for sauces, slicing, and everyday cooking.
GREEN ZEBRA
A distinctive American heirloom with green-striped fruits and golden undertones when ripe. The small-to-medium fruits (100–150 g) have a tangy, zesty flavour with refreshing sharpness. Indeterminate and eye-catching, perfect for salads, salsa, and colourful platters.
ICE
An Italian heirloom producing clusters of pale-ivory fruits that blush cream-yellow when ripe. Small (30–60 g), sweet, and low-acid, they add a delicate touch to salads and grazing boards. Indeterminate plants perform well in full sun with staking support.
JUBILEE YELLOW
A classic golden-orange heirloom introduced by Burpee Seeds in the 1940s. Indeterminate plants produce smooth, round fruits (200–300 g) with mild sweetness and low acidity. Excellent for salads, sandwiches, and cooking thanks to their thick, crack-resistant skin.
MORTGAGE LIFTER
A legendary American beefsteak bred by “Radiator Charlie” in the 1930s. Produces huge, pink-red fruits weighing up to 1 kg with a rich, meaty flavour and balanced sweetness. Indeterminate and high-yielding — perfect for slicing, sauces, and bottling.
REISETOMATE
A true curiosity among heirlooms! This German variety forms lobed, clustered fruits (80–120 g) that pull apart like bunches. Tangy and slightly sour, more novelty than gourmet, but great fun to grow. Indeterminate plants suit snacking, platters, and fresh eating.
SAINT PIERRE
A traditional French heirloom grown since the 1800s. Indeterminate plants bear smooth, deep-red, globe-shaped fruits (150–250 g) with rich, balanced flavour. Performs well in cooler climates and is perfect for sauces, bottling, and slicing.
SILVERY FIR TREE
A compact, determinate Russian heirloom known for its delicate fern-like foliage and early yield. Produces small to medium fruits (80–120 g) with a mild, tangy flavour. Great for sauces, fresh eating, and containers — a reliable performer for small gardens.
THAI PINK EGG
A charming Thai heirloom from the 1950s producing glossy, pale-rose, egg-shaped fruits (40–70 g). Sweet, gently tangy, and crisp, they ripen from pearl-white to pink. Indeterminate and prolific — perfect for snacking, salads, pickling, or light cooking.
TIGERELLA: Tigerella tomatoes exhibit striking red and orange stripes, making them visually appealing. With a balanced, tangy-sweet taste, they are excellent for salads and snacking.

FAQ's
How long will these seeds last?
Seed germination rates decline over time.
For best results, plant within 2 years of purchase.
Some varieties last much longer, so older seeds can still be planted—just expect lower germination.
Each Survival Seed Kit is airtight and includes a moisture absorber to extend shelf life.
How should I store these seeds?
While it's what makes them grow in the garden, moisture, heat and sunlight are the main factors that reduce the lifespan of stored seeds.
Each of our kits are sealed and include moisture absorbers, as well as storage instructions.
To minimise loss in quality, store kits sealed in a dark, dry, cool location. A cupboard is normally sufficient short-term (1 – 2 years). For longer periods (2 – 5+ years), we recommend you store our kits in your fridge crisper.
Where are Survival Seeds located?
We’re based in Toowoomba, Queensland, where every product is carefully handmade and shipped directly from our home business.
What are heirloom seeds?
Heirloom seeds are traditional, non-hybrid seeds passed down through generations. These seeds are open-pollinated, meaning they naturally produce plants true to type, preserving the traits of the parent plant.
Heirlooms are celebrated for their unique flavours, vibrant colours, diverse shapes, and higher nutritional content compared to modern hybrids. They are also non-GMO, making them ideal for sustainable gardening.
A key benefit of heirloom seeds is their ability to be saved and replanted year after year, unlike many hybrid seeds. This makes them vital for ensuring the security of our global food supply. By growing and harvesting heirloom seeds, growers help preserve genetic diversity, protect agricultural heritage, and support a resilient food system for future generations.
Can I save seeds from my harvest to replant next season?
Yes, since our seeds are open-pollinated heirloom varieties, you can save seeds from your harvest to replant in future seasons, ensuring a self-sufficient and sustainable garden for generations.
